Juban kimono- a traditional shorter length kimono worn close to the body

Juban is usually brightly colored and made of silk or cotton (the colors are meant for good luck and to ward off evil spirits)
the collar is often white and may have many layers of fabric that has been sewn over the collar throughout the years

the perfect length for lounging, falls just at the floor for shorter gals and a little above for taller!

This particular red Nagajuban is an older Vermilion silk (shuiro)
1930s era, it beautifully showcases many of the traditional Japanese motifs
pine, clouds, fans

Metallic hand painted round fan motifs are throughout the fabric- so beautiful!

the collar is made from an overlay of various fabrics, the top layer is silk with floral embroidery
