1940s Tissue Silk Crepe kimono
vintage silk kimono robe
Juban kimono- a traditional shorter length kimono that was worn close to the body
Juban is usually brightly colored and made of silk or cotton (the colors are meant for good luck and to ward off evil spirits)
the collar is often white and may have many layers of fabric that have been sewn over the collar throughout the years
the perfect length for lounging
perfect for use as robe, jacket or lounging lingerie
so very comfortable
Excellent vintage condition- very small amount of staining could be found, truly lost amongst this gorgeous silk print
Best fits size Small, medium and large
This particular silk crepe Juban is Tissue silk crepe, is has the loveliest pattern of red wisteria vines and leaves falling from the shoulders and hem. It has a thin cotton collar for protecting the silk from makeup and lotion of the time. Very long sleeves with unfinished hem, meant to be finished to your particular needed length, The sleeves are secure and I would wear as is. No need to hem if you are using for lounging. The other motif seen in this print are fans. Beautifully framing flowers, water and birds. Era 1940s
A stunning piece, as if from a painting!
